3. Provide information as requested by Safety for state/local reporting <br />requirements. <br />4. Manufacturing management are responsible for ensuring staff <br />comply with System procedures for tracked waste which is not <br />covered by this program. <br />1. Review state/local requirements and modify this procedure to <br />include those requirements. <br />2. Complete and submit any and all paperwork regarding permitting <br />and licensing for regulated medical waste for facilities and vehicles <br />as appropriate. <br />3. Develop and submit regulated medical waste reports as required by <br />law. <br />4. Function as inspection point of contact for regulated medical waste <br />inspections. Notify regional Quality department of any and all <br />inspections. <br />1. These are examples of materials that would be discarded as regulated <br />medical waste: <br />• Visibly bloody tubing <br />• Visibly contaminated PPE <br />• Saturated gauze <br />• Saturated bandages <br />• Saturated items <br />• Closed disposable sharps containers <br />• Apheresis extraction tubing <br />2. These are examples of materials that would NOT be discarded as <br />regulated medical waste: <br />• Gloves <br />• Medication <br />• Batteries of any type <br />• Hazardous waste <br />• Garbage <br />• Unsaturated bandage and gauze <br />American Red Cross Biomedical Services Safety Page 7 of 17 <br />Regulated Medical Waste Program Program # 023 <br />
