March 12, 1981
Jack J. Williams, M.D.
San Joaquin Local Health District
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
RE: Infectious Waste Disposal for Lodi Memorial Hospital
Dear Dr. Williams:
To comply with C.A.C. - Title 22, Section 70847, Lodi Memorial Hospital
is disposing of infectious waste as follows:
All Infectious Waste is placed in double plastic bags, with
-each bag tied off separately, at the point of origin. The
bags are identified with appropriate "Contaminated" labels.
These bags are picked up by housekeeping as soon as possible.
Housekeeping places these bags into an enclosed Blackwelder
Compactor located outside the building.
Laboratory waste is autoclaved in the laboratory before being
disposed of, by housekeeping, in the compactor.
The Compactor is picked up by California Solid Waste Removal
of Lodi and taken to the County dump where the waste is buried
in accord with all regulations of the San Joaquin Local Health
District. The Compactor is then cleaned and sanitized before
returning to Lodi Memorial Hospital.
We would appreciate a letter currently approving the handling of
trash, including infectious waste, at Lodi Memorial Hospital.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Sinc;Sandford
y,
Rich
Administrator
RS:lw
975 SOUTH FAIRMONT AVENUE / POST OFFICE BOX 110 / LODI, CALIFORNIA 95240 / (209) 334-3411
1981
' PlrCY
To comply with C.A.C. - Title 22, Section 70847, Lodi Memorial Hospital
is disposing of infectious waste as follows:
All Infectious Waste is placed in double plastic bags, with
-each bag tied off separately, at the point of origin.
