GC to ensure that the width of the perimeter supportingclosure angle shall be not less than 2 in. In eachorthogonal horizontal direction, one end of the ceiling gridshall be attached to the closure angle. The other end ineach horizontal direction shall have a 0.75 m. clearancefrom the wall and shall rest upon and be free to slide on aclosure angle.2. Lateral bracing for suspended ceiling shall be provided.Where ceiling is not supporting interior partitions, ceilingbracing shall be provided by four No. 12 gauge wiressecured to the main runner within 2 inches of the crossrunner intersection and splayed 90 degrees from eachother at an angle not exceeding 45 degrees from the planeof the ceiling. A strut (adequate to resist the verticalcomponent from lateral loads) fastened to the main runnershall be extended to and fastened to the structuralmembers of the roof or floor. These horizontal restraintpoints shall be placed 12 feet o.c. in both directions withthe first point within 6 feet of each wall. Attachment ofrestraint wires to the structure above shall be adequate forthe load imposed.3. Except where rigid braces are used to limit lateraldeflections, sprinkler heads and other penetrations ,GC toensure a 2" oversize ring, sleeve, or adapter through theceiling tile to allow for free movement of at least 1" in allhorizontal directions. Alternatively, a swing joint that canaccommodate 1" of ceiling movement in all horizontaldirections is permitted to be provided at the top of thesprinkler head extension.
