Conclusion and Recommendations <br /> The US EPA Primary Drinking Water Standards set the maximum contaminant level (MCL)for nitrate in <br /> drinking water at 10 mg/L as nitrogen (45 mg/I NO3). According to the calculations based on the <br /> Hantzsche and Finnemore equation, nitrate concentrations due to the proposed project are projected to <br /> be approximately 12.5 mg/L as N.According to local well test data, nitrate concentration is <br /> approximately 12.0 mg/l.Thus, calculations indication that on-site discharge will be near background <br /> nitrate levels. However,to meet the County requirement of 10.0 mg/l, additional nitrate reduction will <br /> be needed for each system. An additional aeration process is proposed for nitrogen reduction of 25%- <br /> 40%with each system. <br /> 71 Page <br />
