Called and spoke with
Officer Rick Schmier to gather information on the spill. Per Officer Schmier, there
were no waterways affected or injuries. The saddle tank fell off of a semi-truck
causing the diesel spill. Called and spoke with Juan Armendarez, HazMat Manger
with Caltrans who stated the estimated amount of the diesel spill is 10-gallons.
Arrived at the spill location and met with Juan. The tank was not secured on the
semi-truck and the diesel tank fell off causing a diesel spill on the right-hand
shoulder behind the "FOOD NEXT EXIT" sign right before Highway-12. Received
the clean-up company name (All Environmental Services) from Juan. Clean up
has not yet been completed. When EHD left spill site, Caltrans was waiting for the
clean-up company to arrive to cover the spill area. Photos were received from
Juan with the spill covered and has been marked for USA Dig.
Generated Prop65. Created photo log. Emailed notice to abate to responsible
party.
03/10/2022 Received phone call from on call person for tomorrow, there is a clean up PRESTO
scheduled for this site tomorrow. Updated her on how to get to the spill, sent her
the pin drop for the spill location. Verified she had the correct complaint packet.
03/10/2022 I received an email from Juan Armendariz of Caltrans stating that clean-up has VANG-LEE
been scheduled on 03/11/2022. I discussed the complaint with the designated
inspector Carol Presto and reviewed previous inspection photos.
03/10/2022 I received a voicemail message from Juan Armendariz regarding clean-up. I VANG-LEE
called Juan and confirmed clean-up will begin at 9am tomorrow, 3/11/22. I
requested that Juan call me 30 minutes before clean-up is complete so that I
could verify the clean-up.
5105.rpt
