Per Juan, the driver stated that he pushed the brakes and turned into
the left shoulder overcorrected which caused the truck to overturn. Upon EHD
arrival the truck was already placed right side up by the towing company, All Star
Heavy and Haul Towing. The truck was on the hill in the right shoulder. Liquid was
observed under the truck but both diesel fuel tanks were intact. Per the towing
company, the release appears to be hydraulic oil and coolant. The driver was on
site and had some shoulder pain and scratches on his arm. Initially Caltrans was
going to conduct the clean up and haul the waste to their yard in Tracy, 2005
Krohn Rd, Tracy 95376 and the responsible party will pay to haul the waste away.
But after Caltrans started clean up, more soil needed to be excavated than
expected. Approximately 2 gallons of hydraulic oil and 3 gallons of coolant were
released. All Environmental Services was hired to conduct clean-up.
EHD left site and came back to witness clean-up completion. The impacted dirt in
the shoulder was excavated and placed into 55-gallon drums. The impacted
asphalt was cleaned with absorbent sand. Seven 55-gallons of drums were
generated and will be hauled as hazardous waste. Clean-up has been completed.
Inspection report emailed to: 01transportinc@gmail.com.
