0 0
GROUND WATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSISP - FORWARD, INC.
FORWARD LANDFILL - STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
This report describes the sampling and analysis procedures which will be followed when
collecting ground water samples from RCRA wells 1, 2A, 2, 10, 12 and three additional
wells, MW-13, 14 and 15, will be installed, MW-1, 2A, 3, 10 and 12 at the Forward landfill.
Included in this report will be information on sample collection, sample preservation and
handling, chain of custody control, analytical procedures and field and laboratory quality
assurance and quality control.
SAMPLE COLLECTION
MEASUREMENT OF STATIC WATER LEVEL ELEVATIONS:
Upon arriving at the Forward site, all ground water monitoring wells will be opened
and measured for depth of standing water and the depth to the bottom of the well.
A 100 foot long Solinst 101 electric water level measuring device will be used to
rneagura the depth of water i!1 *the wells to +- .01 feet and will be referenced to the
permanent NGVD survey point previously placed on the side of the casing.
Because there are no wells at the site deeper than 110 feet the total depth of the
wells will be measured with the measuring- device and an additional 10 foot long
attachment and weight.
If the water table, at any time, drops to a level where water level measurements
cannot be taken or to a point where samples cannot be retrieved, a replacement
well will be installed in close proximity to the dry well and the dry well will be
abandoned.
Between measuring each well the measuring device will be cleaned and rinsed
with deionized water to prevent cross contamination between wells.
DETECTION OF IMMISCIBLE LAYERS:
If is determined that immiscible layers is a concern at the Forward site, each type,
floaters or sinkers, can be isolated and sampled in the wells on the property. Using
a stainless steel double checking bailer, ground water layers can be isolated and
collected for analysis prior to purging the wells for subsequent sampling. Because
the very low levels of contamination in the wells the detection of immiscible layers
may not be required.
