Upgradient wells -5 and MW-7 were found to be
dry and, therefore, the verification of these wells could
not be performed. Until the water table rises for
sampling to continue, it will be unknown if MW-5 actually
represents contaminated ground water.
Due to the inability to resample and confirm contamination
in the suspect wells, the status of the ground water
monitoring system at the Forward Landfill remains in the
verification mode.
It is our recomendation that the verification monitoring be
expanded to include the installation of several additional
ground water monitoring wells which will be installed.
Well MW-5A will be drilled approximately 100 feet east of
MW-5 to a depth of 75 feet. Unlike MW-5, this proposed
deeper well will have sufficient depth to provide year
round monitoring of the ground water in the vicinity of MW-
5. A second well, MW-2A will be installed at the northeast
corner of the landfill to replace the inoperable MW-2 and
to provide a better location for monitoring the
downgradient ground water.
825 Sonoma Ave..
