Department of Health Services
Northern California Section
Toxic Substances Control Division
4250 Power Inn Road
Sacramento, CA 95826
Attention: Ray LeClerc
Subject: Work Plan
Forward Inc. Landfill
San Joaquin County, California
Dear Mr. Leclerc:
11
January 30, 1987
Project 116-1.5
As requested, we present the following work plan for monitoring well
abandonment and construction at the Forward Inc. Landfill.
Monitoring Well Abandonment
All existing ground water monitoring wells at the Forward Landfill will be
permanently closed with cement slurry. The San Joaquin County Health
District requires that the casing be removed, and that a cement slurry be
pumped into the hole through a tremie pipe. In the case that the casing
can not be removed, the entire casing must be perforated, and cement slurry
is then pumped into the casing through a tremie pipe. This work will
commence as soon as possible with the approval of the State Department of
Health Services.
New Monitoring Wells
The following work is scheduled to begin in mid-February, but will not
commence without the approval of the State Department of Health Services.
Phase 1
The first phase of monitoring well construction will be the installation of
monitoring wells that screen the water table. The screen intervals will be
no greater than 25 feet long. Proposed locations for these monitoring
wells are shown on Figure 1.
