CITY OF STOCKTON
Q
CEPARTMENT OF MUNICIPAL UTILITIES r=
25CC NAVY❑FIIVF-
S70CK7CN, CA 9520E-1 1 E1 I`
[259)937-8750 Ln
FAX(209) 937-e758
August 22, 2000 f
Q0
Mary Karim, Facilities Planning Specialist
Manteca Unified School District
P.O. Box 32
Manteca, California 95336
IRRIGATION WELL: GREAT VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The City of Stockton has been asked to comment on Manteca Unified School District's proposal to
construct awe at the Great Valley Elementary School, located in the Weston Ranch area of South
Stockton, for the purpose of site irrigation. The review of the proposed well construction is standard
procedure whenever a customer within the City of Stockton water utility service area wants to
construct their own well.
Larry Moorman, of Moorman's Water Systems, has provided this office with the following data
concerning the project. The well is to be between 150 and 200 feet deep. The well casing is to be 8"
in diameter. The pump size is to be 20 horse power with the ability to produce 200 gallons per
minute. The City of Stockton does not have a concern with the proposed construction of this well, as
long as the depth does not exceed 200 feet and it is used only for irrigation.
You should be aware that, with the addition of this well to the school facility, special precautions may
be required to ensure protection of the potable water supply. In addition, you should also be aware
that ground water quality in this area has a high amount of chlorides and total dissolved solids (TDS)
which landscaping may not tolerate. It is advised that you do some water quality analysis and
determine what impacts might be expected prior to activating the well.
If you have any questions, please call me at 937-5709.
MORRIS L.
