I went over the system type, water SAHOTA
quality data, and basic information on the system. The complainant stated they are
in an RV space periodically and have noticed their personal filters get dirty quickly
and have not lasted past a month. They also stated that sometime after summer
they have heard water has run out; however, they were unable to specify any
details. The complainant stated the main issue is the color of the water and the
filters.
01/04/2023 Tracked most recent laboratory results for treated iron and manganese. Results
were submitted by Far West Laboratories for October 24th, 2022 sampling event.
All treated levels of iron and manganese at multiple sampling points are at
elevated levels. Further follow up is necessary for the existing treatment system.
01/13/2023 Follow up on requirements for treated results, and checked on monitoring history
for bacteriologicals to assess chlorine residual levels. Sent owner, Dave Theis, an
email directing him to obtain a Certified Treatment Operator by two weeks time.
Informed him that the January monthly treatment report is due by February 10th,
and monthly thereafter, as well as confirmation samples being required for treated
iron and manganese as they exceed the levels indicated by permit conditions. The
email stated that a citation will be issued if the water system does not comply with
the required items.
01/17/2023 Received call from Sam Hedge, who stated he has been contracted as the water
system's Certified Treatment Operator (Grade 2). He requested a copy of the
2021 Sanitary Survey report, and stated he will be sending the operator contract,
updated Sample Siting Plan and updated Emergency Notification Plan. I explained
the issues with the treatment system and he confirmed iron and manganese
sampling will be done soon. He also had questions regarding the monthly
treatment reports. I explained there is no set template; however, I did send him a
general template alongside the inspection report.
01/19/2023 Received update from operator, Sam Hedge. Sam stated that he and the owner
have signed the service agreement and he provided a copy of it. He confirmed
they will be submitting monthly treatment reports, and that the lab (Far West
Laboratories) will be collecting iron and manganese confirmation samples today.
Sam stated they are currently reviewing the chlorine injection system to "improve
efficiency and uniformity to the furthest points in the distribution system."
SAHOTA
SAHOTA
SAHOTA
SAHOTA
5105.mt Page 1 of 2
