Landfill soils: <br /> Because soil in a landfill is not easily tested for compressive strength, the application of cave in <br /> protection will be at the discretion of the Competent Person. Minimum requirements to be followed <br /> include: <br /> A. Dry"soil"will be sloped at a pitch of 1:1 <br /> B. Moist"soil"will be sloped at a pitch of 1.5:1 <br /> C. Depths of 4 to 10 feet will require sloping angle. <br /> D. Depths of 10 feet or more will require bench cutting in addition to the sloping angle <br /> 16 <br />
