Clean Earth Environmental
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE PROGRAM
Spill Response and Containment
In the event of an unplanned release of a liquid hazardous substance, clean-up operations will commence with
the spreading of a non-combustible absorbent material around the perimeter of a liquid spill. This material will be
cautiously placed on the spill until absorption is completed. After absorption of the liquid hazardous material has
been complete, the hazardous material will be containerized, covered, and transported to the packing area. A
release of a solid hazardous waste will be cleaned up by directly sweeping (except Asbestos) the substance into
a container.
Clean Earth will use the Spill Response and Containment Matrix shown below, based on the types of materials
that may be present, their physical state and hazard class and most effective method of spill response and
containment.
Latex Paint None Small: Wipe up with absorbent pad. Rinse with water and
wipe up with absorbent pads.
Large: Use absorbent to contain, shovel residue into
container.
