'(Delta) was contracted by Shell Oil Company
(Shell) to conduct a pre-tank pull assessment of the soils at the Shell station located
at 7700 Moreland Court, Stockton, CA. The location is shown on the attached
figures.
Shell plans to remodel the station, remove the existing underground gasoline storage-'
tanks and to install new underground storage tanks at a different location on site.
The drilling and sampling was conducted to identify if contamination existed in the
soils prior to excavation.
.y:
The work consisted of drilling four soil borings through the backfill of the existing
tank cluster to a depth of 20 feet and two soil borings to a depth of 15 feet around
the proposed site for the installation of new tanks.
Soil samples were collected every five feet in brass tubes with a California modified
sampler. One tube from each sample was sealed and placed in an ice chest at 40C for,
storage. The soils in the second brass tube were placed in jars and screened with an
hNu meter for total organic vapors. The preliminary screening of the soil samples
with the hNu meter did not indicate the presence of gasoline contamination.
COPY
Practical Solutions to Environmental Concerns
