Forward Landfill WMU FU-23
02778 15 HDPE GEOMEMBRANE
3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. General: Manufacturer, Fabricator, and GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall participate in and conform with all terms and requirements of the OWNER's construction quality assurance program. The GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR is responsible for assuring this participation. Construction quality control and quality assurance requirements are as specified in this paragraph and the CQA Manual.
B. Acceptance Testing 1. Allow 4 days for acceptance testing following the date material is available to the QA/QC CONSULTANT. 2. Perform acceptance testing on geomembrane rolls. 3. The QA/QC CONSULTANT will obtain and test samples. 4. Test samples for conformance with design specifications and guaranteed properties. 5. Perform, as a minimum, following tests to determine geomembrane characteristics. a. Density: ASTM D1505 b. Thickness: Measured with appropriate micrometer where applicable. Take 20 measurements across the roll width. c. Tensile Strength: ASTM D6693 d. Carbon Black Content: ASTM D4218 e. Carbon Black Dispersion: ASTM D5596 f. Asperity: ASTM D7466 6. Interface Direct Shear Strength: ASTM D5321. The QA/QC CONSULTANT will collect samples of geomembrane for interface direct shear strength testing. The QA/QC CONSULTANT shall perform one interface shear test between the clay liner and textured geomembrane and one interface shear test between the textured geomembrane and the cushion geotextile, as discussed in Section 2.3. 7. Sampling Procedures. a. Sample across the entire width of the roll. b. Cut sample 3-feet-long by width of roll. c. Mark machine direction on the samples with an arrow. QA/QC CONSULTANT will be responsible for markings. d. Sample at a rate of one per batch or one per one hundred thousand square feet of material supplied, whichever results in greatest number.
C. Field Testing 1. General: The GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall non-destructively test all field seams over their full length using a vacuum test unit, air pressure (for double fusion seams only), spark testing, or other approved methods. Perform testing as the seaming progresses and not at the completion of all the field seaming. Complete all required repairs in accordance with this specification. The QA/QC CONSULTANT shall be informed when testing will be performed. 2. Vacuum test a. Equipment:
