The site is being characterized for possible
redevelopment as a warehouse. Although, there have been a large number of samples taken at the site, not all
aspects of the site have been characterized. To complete the characterization of the site and to assess the level of
threat to the public’s health and safety and the risk the site poses to the environment the EHD is requesting
CalRecycles assistance in providing confirmation sampling for the site.

The PNA site used a portion of it property surrounds its factory as an area for disposal of glass waste. Aerial
phots show that disposal started prior to 1968. The aerial photos also show areas where site activity was
conducted. The areas where the soil is disturbed are suspected to be disposal area. In one area there is a small
lens of glass waste that is estimated to contain 1500 cubic yards glass and debris. The glass is being proposed for
use as engineered fill. The risk associated with that proposal has not been fully analyzed.
In accordance with Public Resource Code (PRC), Section 45013, the EHD is requesting assistance to determine
the risk associated with proposed site activities through additional sampling and analysis of soil and waste at this
site.
If you have any questions, you may contact me at (209) 468-0332.

Robert McClellon, REHS, Program Coordinator
Environmental Health Department
