The audible/visual
alarm is no longer acceptable when there is more than one tank.
REGULATION GUIDANCE:All underground storage tanks shall be equipped with an overfill prevention system that
does not allow for manual override and meets one of the following requirements:
1. Alert the transfer operator when the tank is 90 percent full by restricting the flow into the tank or triggering an
audible and visual alarm; or
2. Restrict delivery of flow to the tank at least 30 minutes before the tank overfills, provided the restriction occurs
when the tank is filled to no more than 95 percent of capacity; and activate an audible alarm at least five minutes
before the tank overfills; or
3. Provide positive shut-off of flow to the tank when the tank is filled to no more than 95 percent of capacity;or,
4. Replacement of a mechanical flapper valve requires a permit and inspection
by the EHD. If an external audio/visual alarm is replaced, provide a copy of the service receipt to the EHD. If an
approved overfill prevention system can't be installed immediately, there is a possibility that the 87, 91 and diesel
UST system may be red tagged to prevent fuel inputs.
This is a Class II violation.
Overall Inspection Comments:
Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement
documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting
paperwork, by 4/26/2024 .
To minimize person to person contact EHD is choosing to write the name of person receiving the report instead
of having them sign.
