CalRecycle
Compostable Materials Handling Operation and Facility Inspection Report (93)
THE ABOVE FACILITY WAS INSPECTED FOR COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF THE DIVISION W OF THE PUBLIC RESOURCES CODE (PRC) AND TITLE 16 AND TITLE 27 CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS (CCR)
Routine monthly inspection conducted on this date and the following was noted:
1. Review of the temperature records indicate that no greenwaste temperature readings were taken on 2/15/12 and
2/16/12. According to the operator, the amount of greenwaste material received on these days was light. As a
result, the material that was received was immediately put through the grinder (there was no pile to take a
temperature reading). Note that on 2/23/12, the operator emailed pictures showing a very small pile of
greenwaste on site. Document in the temperature records, from here on, that the material was immediately put
into the grinder.
Previous area of concern regarding the ground material being at a potentially combustible temperature has been
corrected.
3. The temperature range of the greenwaste pile and the ground material was 102 F to 120 F and 122 F to 150 F
respectively. The temperature range of the windrows was 118 F to 148 F. The temperature range of the pre-
screened product and the screened product was 110 F to 122 F and 125 F to 140 F respectively.
