According to the operator, the reason for this is that the loader, which loads the comingled recycables
onto the trucks, broke down on 1/21/12 and was not fixed until 1/26/12. The operator stated that he was
unable to find a replacement loader, resulting in the comingled recycables staying in the transfer station
until the onsite loader was repaired.
2. Accoring to the Transfer/Processing Report (TPR), section 2.6.2, the transfer station has contract
agreements with local contractors and suppliers. These vendors are to be used for situations that require
rental/replacement equipment.
3. Ensure from here on that a replacement loader will be available from a local contractor/supplier if and
when the onsite loader breaks down.
4. A status check was conducted on 1/31/12. The amount of comingled recycables in the transfer station
was significantly reduced.
Inspection
Report Comments:
Routine monthly inspection conducted on this date and the following was noted:
1. Previous area of concern regarding the area of the tipping floor where rebar was protruding has been corrected.
2. There are rat traps located along the east and south wall of the transfer station but none on the north wall. Put
rat traps along the north wall.
3. The onsite litter and dust was minimal.
4. The fire extinguishers were being properly maintained.
5. All records were available for review.
