<br /> Page 32 <br />4.3.3 Geotextile Installation <br /> <br />Surface Preparation. Before geotextile installation, the QA/QC Inspector will: <br /> <br /> Verify that all lines and grades have been verified by the Contractor. <br /> Verify that all seaming and required testing of the HDPE geomembrane underlying the <br />cushion geotextile has been completed. <br /> <br /> <br />Geotextile Placement and Seaming. During geotextile placement and seaming operations, the <br />QA/QC Inspector will: <br /> <br /> Observe the geotextile as it is deployed and record all defects and defect corrective <br />actions (panel rejected, patch installed, etc.). Verify that corrective actions are performed <br />in accordance with the specifications. <br /> <br /> Verify that equipment used does not damage the geotextile by handling, equipment <br />transit, leakage of hydrocarbons, or other means. <br /> <br /> Verify that crews working on the geotextile do not smoke, wear shoes that could damage <br />the geotextile, or engage in activities that could damage the geotextile. <br /> <br /> Verify that adjacent panels are overlapped or seamed in accordance with the <br />Specifications. <br /> <br /> Verify that the geotextile was not exposed to direct sunlight for more than 5 days. <br /> <br /> Examine the geotextile after installation to ensure that no potentially harmful foreign <br />objects are present. <br /> <br />The QA/QC Inspector must inform both the QA/QC Manager and Earthwork Contractor if the above <br />conditions are not met. <br /> <br />4.3.4 Repairs <br /> <br />Repair procedures include: <br /> <br /> Patching--used to repair large holes, tears, and small defective areas. <br /> <br /> Removal--used to replace large defective areas where the preceding method is not <br />appropriate. <br /> <br />
