Water Quality Monitoring Report
First Quarter 2024
www.arcadis.com
Forward Landfill 1Q24 Water Quality Mon Report_05012024 5
MW-2A. Nitrate as N and sulfate.
MW-3. Nitrate as N and sulfate.
MW-10. Nitrate as N.
MW-13. Nitrate as N and sulfate.
MW-14 – Nitrate as N;
MW-16. Calcium, chloride, magnesium, nitrate as N, sodium, sulfate, and total dissolved solids.
MW-17R. Sulfate.
MW-19R. Bicarbonate alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate as N, and sulfate.
MW-21. Nitrate as N and sulfate.
As a result, these wells were identified for resampling in second quarter 2024. The RWQCB was notified of these
VOC detections and CL exceedances in a letter dated April 23, 2024 (Forward 2024b).
2.1.5 Detection Monitoring Program, Austin Road Unit
Field and laboratory results for the DMP samples collected at Austin Road Unit groundwater monitoring wells
during first quarter 2024 are presented in Tables 6 and 7, summarized below:
Non-statistical data analysis. The CNSDAM was performed for VOCs detected in the site monitoring wells
during first quarter 2024. As presented in Table 6 and shown on Figures 3, 11, and 12, the following VOCs
were detected at the Austin Road Unit:
-AMW-6. PCE (greater than PQL) and TCE (greater than MDL).
-AMW-12. PCE (greater than PQL).
Concentration limit thresholds. In accordance with the MRP (RWQCB 2014), the routine inorganic monitoring
data from the Austin Road Unit for first quarter 2024 were compared to CLs established for each well. CLs
were recalculated through fourth quarter 2022 (Arcadis 2023). Details on the statistical analysis for the
established CLs are presented in Appendix I to the Forward Landfill Water Quality Monitoring Report – Fourth
Quarter 2022/Annual (Arcadis 2023).
As presented in Table 7, the following CL was exceeded at the Austin Road Unit during first quarter 2024:
-AMW-5R. Sulfate.
As a result, this well was identified for resampling in second quarter 2024. The RWQCB was notified of this VOC
detection and CL exceedance in a letter dated April 23, 2024 (Forward 2024b).
2.1.6 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Results
The quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) samples collected at the Forward and Austin Road Units during
first quarter 2024 and the associated analytical results are described below.
