At that time the EHD may consider your request to reduce the number of inspections. In conversation with you, you stated that testing conducted at another site indicated that the passive trench would release more gas under atmospheric low pressure. Seeing as that changes with the weather, I think it is too soon to just walk away. I have not seen a written plan for monitoring from you as we discussed earlier. I have not heard anything from you regarding the UGT that was found at the site. I would suggest that you get something to me very soon. During this past monitoring event (on September 29, 2006), none of the probes was found to have a methane concentration greater than 5 percent. The methane concentration of the above identified probes was 0.9% in VW -4, 3.5% in VW -5S, 4.2% in VW -5D, 1.5% in VW -6S, and 4.0% in VW -6D. Following the passive soil vapor extraction trench installation activities, you requested that the landfill gas concentration be measrued within the probes, extraction well, and passive vent locations on a bi-weekly (every two weeks) basis during the first quarter following the installation of the passive soil vapor extraction trench. We plan on measuring the landfill gas concentrations at all of the probe, extraction well, and passive vent locations later this week on Thursday October 19, 2006. If the methane concentration within all of the probes are less than 5 percent during this event, we respectfully request for your approval to suspend the bi-weekly monitoring and to reinstate the quarterly monitoring.
