San Joaquin County <br />Department of Public Works <br />County of San Joaquin Dept of Public Works IIPP Rev 2020-01-31.docx P a g e | 41 <br /> <br />1.4 Polices <br /> <br />In order to ensure a safe environment for employees and customers, the Department <br />of Public Works prohibits the wearing, transporting, storage, or presence of firearms or <br />other dangerous weapons in our facilities or on our property. Any employee in <br />possession of a firearm or other weapon while on our facilities/property or while <br />otherwise fulfilling job responsibilities may face disciplinary action including <br />termination, unless there is a work-related purpose and prior approval has been <br />obtained from the Director of Public Works or their designee <br />Public Works employees shall not possess: <br /> 1. Firearms <br /> 2. Explosives/Ammunition <br /> 3. Fixed Blade Knives <br /> 4. Folding Knives with Blades over 3.5 inches <br /> 5. Illegal weapons such as defined in Section 12020 of the California Penal <br /> Code. <br />The County shall take appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination, <br />against employees who violate this policy. <br /> <br />A client or visitor who violates this policy may be removed from the property and <br />reported to police authorities. Possession of a valid concealed weapons permit <br />authorized by the State of California is not an exemption under this policy. <br /> <br />Exemptions: <br />This policy does not apply to: <br />• any law enforcement personnel engaged in official duties <br />• any security personnel engaged in official duties <br />• any person engaged in military activities sponsored by the federal or state <br />government, while engaged in official duties <br />
