Site Health and Safety Plan Page 3 <br />2.2 Site Health and Safety Officer <br />In accord with 29 CFR 1926.65(b)(2)(i)(B), the Site Superintendent will act as is the Site <br />Health and Safety Officer (SSHO). The SSHO has responsibility and authority for all functions <br />that may pertain to health and safety at this site. This is the individual located at the site daily <br />and has authority and knowledge necessary to implement the HASP and verify compliance <br />with applicable safety and health requirements. The site Health and Safety Supervisor is <br />directly responsible for: <br />• Implementing the HASP. <br />• Providing a copy of this HASP to each contractor and subcontractor. <br />• Implementing emergency response procedures. <br />• Supervising Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use on this site. <br />• Approving any changes in PPE used on this site. <br />• Evaluating the quality and safety of response activities after every emergency <br />incident or evacuation of this site. <br />• Providing site workers with notifications and training on changes to the emergency <br />response plan. <br />• Implementing the thermal stress program. <br />• Monitoring site activities as they pertain to Health and Safety at this site. <br />• Suspending or correcting any unsafe acts that pose an immediate or imminent health <br />and safety hazard to anyone at this site. <br />• Ensuring that all elements of this HASP are followed and correctly implemented. <br />• Verifying compliance of site workers, visitors and other personnel, with respect to this <br />HASP and reporting deviations to the Project Manager. <br />• Prepares and/or reviews Job Hazard Analysis worksheets. <br />2.3 Site Safety Officer <br />In accord with 29 CFR 1926.65(b)(2)(i)(A), the appropriate site personnel will be identified as <br />the Site Safety Officer (SSO). The SSO is responsible for evaluating hazards anticipated at <br />the site. The SSO has at least 5 years of experience as an SSO and 40-hour OSHA <br />Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) trained. The SSO is <br />directly responsible for: <br />• Implementation of the site HASP. <br />• Evaluating on-site risks. <br />• Oversee the handling, storage, sampling, and transport of contaminated materials. <br />• Ensuring that site workers are adequately trained and perform safety briefings in <br />accordance with this HASP. <br />• Determining levels of personnel protection required.
