SPILL CONTAINMENT PLAN:
Spills of hazardous materials at this site are anticipated to be limited to potential spills of decontamination
fluids including flushing lines and tanks. In order to reduce this potential, containers or drums containing
decontamination fluids will be properly staged (on pallets if necessary) on level surfaces. Secondary
containment will be provided as needed. Should a spill of hazardous materials occur on-site that cannot be
adequately controlled, hazardous materials response team will be summoned, and project management will
be notified.
Specific Instructions:
Traffic—
• A spotter shall be used at all times when visibility of traveling direction is poor.
• The operator must use extreme caution when maneuvering the back hoe to eliminate the possibility of
injuring a co-worker. If at any time the operator looses visual contact of person close by, he must pause
and evaluate the situation.
• Personnel working around equipment needs to be aware of all equipment movements.
• Passing traffic can be an issue.
• Personnel will remain away from the perimeter of the bucket to eliminate the possibility of injury.
Emergency Phone Numbers:
Police/Fire: 911
Poison Control: (800) 662-9886
United Pumping: (626) 961-9326 (24 hr.
