Hazardous Waste Tank Assessment January 21, 2022
Central Valley Waste Services Project No. 1246
Lodi, CA Page 2

1” diameter solid welded type “L” copper pipe. The copper pipe runs along the outside of
the sheet metal vehicle maintenance facility, then penetrates the wall and connects to
portable drain pans filled with used oil. The AST has the following fittings on top, as
shown on the design drawing provided in Attachment A:
➢ One 4” in primary tank with spillbox for manual filling.
➢ One 2” port in primary tank (electrical)
➢ One 2” port in primary tank (fill port via 1” copper pipe)
➢ Four 2” ports in primary tank (blank).
➢ One 2” port in primary tank with 90-degree camlock fitting (tank effluent)
➢ Two 6” ports in primary tank (one blank, one vent).
➢ One 6” port in secondary containment (emergency vent).
➢ One 2” monitoring port in secondary containment.
➢ One 2” in secondary containment (electrical for monitoring probe)
• Description of any external and internal pumps {22 CCR §66265.192(k)(2)(d)}
Graco model Husky 1040 double diaphragm pneumatic pump, design flow 40 gpm. The
pump is located inside the maintenance facility.
• Sketch or drawing of tank including dimensions {22 CCR §66265.192(k)(2)(e)}
See design drawing (Attachment A) and photographs of the tank system (Attachment B)
• Documented age of the tank system, if available {22 CCR §66265.192(k)(3)}
The tank is approximately 20 years old.
• Description and evaluation of any leak detection equipment {22 CCR §66265.192(k)(4)
The interstitial space is monitored through a 2” diameter port that accesses the annular
space between the primary and secondary tanks. An electronic probe at the bottom of the
annular space will detect leakage from the primary tank and send an audible alarm to the
Husky 007 tank monitoring system inside the maintenance facility. The audible alarm was
tested during the inspection and found to be properly operating.
• Description and evaluation of any corrosion protection, equipment, devices, or material
{22 CCR §66265.192(k)(5)}:
The outside of the AST is in good condition and factory coated with an epoxy coated finish
to prevent oxidation. The paint coating is in fair condition with a few minor rust spots in
places on the sides of the tank. The tank is in a covered wash bay and is not in direct
contact with soil or precipitation. The tank is adequately protected from corrosion. The
primary tank and secondary tanks are constructed of 10-gauge mild steel. It is not possible
to evaluate corrosion of the primary tank since it is enclosed within the secondary tank,
thus no evaluation could be made with respect to corrosion of the primary tank.
• Description and evaluation of spill prevention and overfill equipment {22 CCR
§66265.192(k)(6)}
The Husky 007 level gauge monitors the liquid level within the primary tank such that an
audible alarm sounds inside the Maintenance building if the tank exceeds 80% of maximum
capacity. The A spill kit is in the maintenance facility.
• Description and evaluation of secondary containment for the tank system and ancillary
