GeosMtec®
consultants
In addition to the applicable DQIs specified above, the following DQIs will be assessed
for radionuclide data as part of review, when appropriate:
• tracers or carriers;
• excessive uncertainty;
• biased negativity;
• minimum detectable concentrations (MDC) and critical levels (to assess
sensitivity compared to project-specific requirements); and
• duplicate error ratio (DER).
Data will be validated according to applicable guidelines set forth in the following
sources, as appropriate for the analytical methods:
• U.S. EPA Draft Region 9 Superfund Data Evaluation/Validation Guidance,
R9QA/006.1, December 2001 (U.S. EPA, 2001b);
• U.S. EPA National Functional Guidelines for Inorganic Superfund Methods Data
Review,November 2020 (EPA-542-R-20-006) (U.S. EPA, 2020a);
• U.S. EPA National Functional Guidelines for Superfund Organic Methods Data
Review,November 2020 (EPA-540-R-20-005) (U.S. EPA, 2020b); and
• American Nuclear Society, Verification and Validation of Radiological Data for
Use in Waste Management and Environmental Remediation, ANSI/ANS-41.5-
2012, February 2012 (American Nuclear Society, 2012).
In the event that these guidelines are updated, the most recent applicable guidelines will
be used for data validation and verification.
The data verification and validation tasks will be performed and documented by the QA
Manager. The QA Manager will assess whether the objectives for the analytical data have
been met and apply appropriate data qualifiers as necessary. In any area not specifically
addressed by the above sources,best professional judgment will be utilized and described
in the data validation document. Data validation qualifiers will indicate whether results
are considered anomalous, estimated, or rejected. Only rejected data are considered
unusable for decision-making purposes;however,other qualified data may require further
verification.
Results of the data validation will be documented and summarized in a data validation
memorandum. The memorandum is submitted to the Project Manager for review. The
Quality Assurance Project Plan 11 30 April 2025
