Geosyntec <br /> consultants <br /> • Site 31 <br /> • Site 42 <br /> • Central Area (Sites 2, 5A, 513, 5C, 43 and 49) <br /> • Landfill Area(Site 39, IAS-3/4, IAS-07 and IAS-16) <br /> 1.3 Previous Environmental Investigations <br /> A significant amount of data has been collected and analyzed over the last 40 years to improve <br /> the understanding of the hydrogeology, groundwater quality, and fate and transport of <br /> constituents of concern(COCs) at RRI: <br /> • 89 piezometers and 366 wells have been installed and gauged. <br /> • Approximately 370 grab-groundwater samples have been collected. <br /> • 13 stream gauges have been installed and gauged. <br /> • 346 wells have been sampled for volatile organic compounds (VOCs). <br /> • Groundwater samples have been collected at RRI for analysis of VOCs, total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), metals, <br /> pesticides, dioxins and furans, herbicides,polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) aroclors, <br /> polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), radionuclides,per-and polyfluoroalkyl <br /> substances (PFAS), pharmaceuticals and personal care products including DEET and <br /> bisphenol a, and general chemistry parameters. <br /> • Surface water samples have been collected at RRI for analysis of VOCs, TPH, metals, <br /> organochlorine pesticides, dioxins and furans, PCBs, PAHs, radionuclides, and <br /> general chemistry parameters. <br /> • Sediment samples have been collected at RRI for analysis of VOCs and general <br /> chemistry parameters. <br /> • Three groundwater pumping tests have been conducted at RRI. <br /> The Navy conducted numerous environmental investigations and remedial actions prior to the <br /> property transfer to the Port, including the following: <br /> • In 1984, the Navy conducted an lnitial Assessment Study(IAS), which primarily <br /> focused on assessment of the Landfill Area and led to estimates of the volumes and <br /> locations of potentially hazardous materials. <br /> 1 The Site 3 Area has also been referred to as the Agriculture Area. <br /> 2 The Site 4 Area has also been referred to as the Warehouse Area. <br /> 3 The Central Area has also been referred to as the Administrative Area or the Site 49 Area. <br /> RRI Groundwater Monitoring Work Plan 3 June 2022 <br />
