Geosyntec
consultants
PFAS were first sampled at RRI and detected in groundwater in 2018 (Geosyntec, 2018b). The
Navy retains responsibility for PFAS at RRI and has been conducting PFAS investigations at the
request of DTSC and CVRWQCB since PFAS were identified in groundwater.
1.5 Objectives
The objectives of the 2022 groundwater monitoring program are to:
• monitor the extent of known VOC and TPH groundwater plumes at RRI; and
• collect groundwater data to evaluate if monitored natural attenuation(MNA) is
occurring in groundwater at RRI.
Recent annual monitoring data suggests that the extent of the known groundwater plumes is
stable or decreasing. As of the time of writing this 2022 GWMP, no groundwater remedial
approach has been determined on an island-wide basis.
RRI Groundwater Monitoring Work Plan 7 June 2022
