Geosyntec
consultants
4. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATIONS
This section describes new monitoring wells proposed to be installed at RRI in 2022.
As discussed above in Section 3, the following data gaps in the groundwater monitoring well
network in the Site 3, Site 4, and Central Areas were identified based on the existing data:
• Monitoring the cross-gradient extent of VOCs in groundwater at Site 4 west of the
former source area and monitoring well W-333
• Monitoring the cross-gradient extent of VOCs in groundwater at Site 3 west of the
former source areas and monitoring well W-075
• Monitoring the downgradient extent of VOCs and TPH in groundwater from the
Central Area west of monitoring well W-341
Monitoring wells are proposed to be installed in these areas to monitor the lateral vertical extent
of COCs in groundwater(Figures 24 to 28). The locations and screen intervals for the proposed
monitoring wells are shown in Figures 4 to 8 and described in Table 4.
4.1 New Monitoring Well Installations
Monitoring well installation activities will be conducted in accordance with the Standard
Operating Procedure (SOPs) in Appendix E. The SOP was previously included in the DTSC- and
CVRWQCB-approved 2018 GMWP (Geosyntec, 2018a). All new monitoring wells installed at
RRI since 2018 have been installed in accordance with the SOP. The well construction design
details included in the SOP are based on the hydrogeologic CSM and lithology encountered at
RRI.
RRI Groundwater Monitoring Work Plan 17 June 2022
