Geosyntec'
consultants
lithology encountered at RRI, as described in the GMWP. Soils will be logged using the
Unified Soils Classification System (USCS) and all downhole equipment will be
decontaminated prior to use. The filter pack and slot size may be modified from the SOP
based on the lithology encountered in the field. The replacement well locations as shown
in Figure 1 are preliminary, and may be modified based on future discussions with DTSC
and CVRWQCB prior to the well installations. After a minimum of 48 hours following
each well installation, the new monitoring wells will be developed in accordance with the
SOP.
3. SCHEDULE AND REPORTING
The CVRWQCB has previously provided authorization to proceed with destroying the
monitoring wells in the rail line construction area. Monitoring wells in the rail line
construction area were sampled for VOCs on April 5 through 7, 2021 as per discussion
with DTSC in the March 18, 2021 meeting. Following approval of this Work Plan by
DTSC and receipt of all necessary permits the wells listed on Table 1 and shown in Figure
1 will be destroyed. The well destructions are anticipated to be conducted in June and
July 2021, the replacement well installations in May and June 2022, and sampling of the
replacement wells in the 3rd Quarter 2022 as part of the 2022 annual groundwater
monitoring event. A separate memorandum will be submitted in 2022 with the proposed
2022 groundwater monitoring plan for RRI. The schedule listed above may be modified
pending modifications to the rail line construction schedule. The sampling results and
documentation of the well destructions will be included in the 2021 Annual Groundwater
Monitoring Report. The installation and sampling of the replacement monitoring wells
will be included in the 2022 Annual Groundwater Monitoring Report.
4.
