Mr. Todd Del Frate -2-
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill
Results of leachate monitoring are consistent with past leachate monitoring events. The first
semiannual leachate monitoring event occurred on February 5, 2024. Thirty different VOCs
(some at trace levels) were reported in the leachate samples. The highest VOC concentrations
reported at each sample point were naphthalene in L-1, methyl ethyl ketone in L-3, 2-hexanone
in L-4, and methyl ethyl ketone in L-5.
Lastly, we have consistently reported or repeated a lot of historical data in our annual reports.
Would there be an appropriate method or time when we could archive some of the historical
data and note that in lieu of continually repeating old data? We are looking at revising our
format for the next report and would like some direction as to how we could accomplish that.
I certify under penalty of perjury that I am familiar with the information submitted in this report,
and to the best of my knowledge the report is true, accurate, and complete.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-3066.
Sincerely,

Mark Houghton, P.E.
Senior Engineer

Enclosure
c: Bryce Howard, Integrated Waste Manager (letter only)
Natalia Subbotnikova, Environmental Health Department
N:\1North County\RWQCB\Groundwater Monitoring\2024 GW Reports\1st Sem\NC 2024 1st SA Cvr Ltr.doc
