North County Recycling Center & Sanitary Landfill Public Works/Solid Waste
First Semiannual 2024 Groundwater Monitoring 14 ©2024 COUNTY of San Joaquin. All Rights Reserved.

by the monitoring technician while observing the flow meter. Exposed leachate pipes are
periodically inspected for damage or leaks.
HISTORICAL TIME SERIES PLOTS AND STIFF DIAGRAMS
Historical Time Series Plots are presented in Appendix I. Constituents not detected are plotted
at their respective detection limits and denoted with a hollow marker in the Historical Time Series
Plots. Note that Outliers were included in the plots as directed by Regional Board staff.
Stiff diagrams are submitted annually with the second semiannual report and are not included in
this report. Previous stiff diagrams showed that wells G-7 and G-10 are generally
calcium/sodium/potassium/magnesium-bicarbonate type with fairly equal cation concentrations.
Wells G-8, G-9, G-11, and G-13 are generally calcium-bicarbonate type with slightly more
calcium than the other cations. Well G-12 is a sodium/potassium-bicarbonate type. Well G-14 is
a calcium/magnesium-bicarbonate type.
FACILITY MONITORING
County staff inspects the landfill and its associated facilities for any needed maintenance and
repair, to ensure that all facilities are functioning properly. The facility monitoring program for the
NCRC&SL includes regular maintenance, storm response, and site winterization.
Routine Maintenance
The County performs maintenance at the NCRC&SL, repairing minor damage, such as erosion
rills and ponding of water on an as-needed basis. Maintenance monitoring is typically performed,
unless there is a need for more frequent maintenance. Maintenance needs are recorded and
scheduled for repair as soon as possible.
Storm Response
Site Winterization. The County prepares a site winterization plan on an annual basis to assist
the landfill in responding to winter conditions.
Per the winterization plan, the drainage and erosion control measures are installed.
