Ahern Rd, Tracy
APN 255-020-14/ PA-1600049 (UP) Truck Stop/Convenience Store; SR0085076
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the engineer designed
OWTS plan (the Plan) dated 2/28/2022 prepared by Paul Wesley Donoho (REHS) and Ross P. Shoaf (PE),
the Plan's subsequent modifications dated 8/8/2022 and 9/12/2022; the August 2022 revised Operation and
Maintenance Plan (O&M) from the original July 2022 submittal, and two subsequent testing protocol
addendum in September and 9/14/2022. This OWTS is for the landuse project PA-1600049 (UP) consisting
of a truck wash, gas station, and convenience store
The Plan calls for installation of the following:
- An Orenco AX100 treatment system comprised of 5 primary filter pods and 2 secondary filter pods
- A 2,000-gallon Grease Interceptor
- A 20,000-gallon two-cornpartment Darco fiberglass Septic Tank
- A 8,000-gallon Pre-Anoxic Tank (PF300512)
- A 5,000-gallon Primary circulating tank
- A 4,000 gallon Post-anoxic tank
- A 2,500 gallon secondary recirculating tank
- A 5,000 gallon Dosing tank
- A disposal field of thirty 72 ft long leach lines comprised of 5 fields with 6 leach lines each.
- Jet Style Mixing Unit for the Post-Anoxic Tank
- Isolation valves to the Duplex Pump Assemblies
The EHD has approved the Plan with the following conditions:
1) The Plan is based on numbers provided by GSV Consulting in 09/24/2020 for the average daily load of
3,225 gallons per day with a maximum load of 6,450 gpd (based on 630 vehicles at 10 gpd and 5
employees and 30 gallons/employee). These numbers are different from the Nitrate Loading / Soil
Suitability Study dated March 4, 2020 prepared by Live Oak (SR0081908), page 11 and 12, which
estimated an average daily sewage wastewater flow of 7,095 gallons per day (gpd) (based on estimate
of 6,250 gpd from 1,250 customers at 5 gal/customer; plus 845 gpd from 65 employees at 13
gallon/employee), and a maximum average daily flow of 8,600 gpd. The Plan and the designer justified
the differences in wastewater load estimates with a similar system for a truck stop at Bakerfield, and
other Orenco systems in Amesviille, Ohio and Morgan's Point, Texas. If this proposed engineer
designed OWTS based on the Plan fails to meet the actual wastewater flow, addition/ repair to the
OWTS by an engineer may be required.
1868 E.
