bottom of the borehole to approximately 5 feet bgs.Sand will be placed in the remaining annulus
to the ground surface and completed to match the surrounding surface conditions.
5.5 Monitoring Well Installation
Monitoring wells will be installed using a hollow stem auger drilling rig. During drilling, soil cores
will be collected using a split-spoon sampler every 5 feet and logged in accordance with the
Unified Soil Classification System. The wells will be constructed of 2-inch diameter Schedule 40
polyvinyl chloride(PVC)rasing with 20 feet of 0.0104ch factory-slotted screen from 45 to 65 feet
bgs. The annular space between the borehole walls and well screens will be backfilled with a
silice sand filter pack to approximately 2 feet above the top of the well screen.A 2-toot bentonite
transition seal will be installed above the filter pack and hydrated in place.A neat cement sanitary
seal volt be installed from the top of the bentonite seal to just below the ground surface.
Wells MW-5R and MW-8R will be completed with a flush mount traffic-rated well box. The
remaining wells will be completed in an above-ground monument set in a concrete pad. The
proposed monitoring well construction details are shown on Figure 9.
5.6 Well Development
In accordance with California Well Standards(Department of Water Resources Bulletin 74),the
wells will he developed s minimum of 48 hours after installation by a combination of bailing, FIGURES
surging, and pumping. The total well depth, depth to groundwater, temperature, pH, specific
conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and oxidation-reduction potential volt be measured prior to the MONITORING WELL NETWORK REPLACEMENT WORK PLAN
start and periodically during development. Development will continue until a minimum of five Nutrien Ag Solutions, Ina
casing volumes of water have been removed and water quality parameters have stabilized. Vernalis, California
5.7 Well Survey
May 2020
The location, ground surface elevation, and top of casing elevation will be measured by a
California-licensed Professional Land Surveyor in accordance with the requirements forthe State
Water Resources Control Board Geotrecker database.
5.9 Decontamination and Waste Management
Down-hole drilling equipment will be decontaminated prior to drilling each well using high-
pressure cleaning equipment. The decontamination rinsate, well development water, and soil ^
cuttings generated during drilling will be placed into separate roll-off boxes or 55-gallon drums
and labeled, dated, and staged on site prior to characterization and disposal at an appropriate off-
sitefacility.
5.9 Scheduling and Reporting
Feld activities will be initiated after receiving the RWQCB's authorization to proceed and obtaining
well drilling and encroachment permits.A Monitoring Well Network Replacement Report will be
submitted approximately 8 weeks after completing the field activities. At a minimum, the report
will contain:
Nuelen Vemalia,Czlircmla 3
Monitoring Well Netvm Replacement Work Plan
