This includes all DAF
(Water Resources,Hydron,Ellis,Sierra,HMS,or Kemco)and ASH(Kemco)systems. Follow all procedure
steps that apply to your specific treatment system setup.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to describe the critical procedures for startup and shutdown of these systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This procedure must be followed by all wastewater treatment operators, supervisors, and plant managers.
PRE-STARTUP PROCEDURE
The following procedure is to be followed rior to all initial startups after overnight or weekend shutdowns.
1
1. Tum ON equalization tank mixing system(AUTO at control panel or PLC touch screen if applicable).
2. Activate pH control system(open acid pump discharge valve and set pump to AUTO control).
s 3. Check the pH reading on the pH controller(clean and calibrate probe if needed).
4. DAF/ASH should be free of any bottom sludge buildup prior to startup. Purge bottom sludge if needed.
ANYSOLIDS LEFT!N THE SYSTEM WILL CAUSE HEAVY CARRYOVER FOR UP TO IHR AFTER STARTUP!!
5• Check the water level in the DAF/ASH and fill to effluent weir level if needed.
6.
