5. INVESTIGATION DERIVED WASTE MANAGEMENT <br /> 5.1 Overview <br /> The following SOP outlines procedures for handling investigation-derived waste (IDW) <br /> generated during the investigation. IDW is anticipated to include, but may not be limited <br /> to, soil, groundwater, decontamination water, disposable sampling implements,personal <br /> protective equipment (e.g., disposable gloves), plastic bags, and miscellaneous <br /> paper/plastic trash. Soil cuttings, well purge groundwater, and decontamination liquids <br /> generated during Site investigation activities will be contained in sealed, leak-proof <br /> containers. Solid (non-soil) IDW will be put into a plastic garbage bag and placed in a <br /> municipal refuse dumpster. <br /> 5.2 Equipment <br /> • PPE and air monitoring equipment as required by HASP; <br /> • DOT-approved drums (provided by subcontractor); <br /> • Non-hazardous drum labels; <br /> • Hand auger, shovel, trowel, or other similar soil sampling implement; <br /> • Disposable bailers and nylon string; <br /> • Soil sampling containers; <br /> • Water sampling containers; and <br /> • Cooler with ice. <br /> 5.3 Documentation <br /> • DFRs; <br /> • Laboratory chain of custody forms; and <br /> • IDW management form. <br /> 15 <br />
