o After use, discard needle tubes immediately into an approved sharps container or <br /> biohazard waste container if contaminated. <br /> Inspection <br /> o Inspect reusable needle tubes for cracks, damage, or wear prior to sterilization. <br /> o Remove from service if damaged. <br /> o Infect prepacked pre sterilized packs. <br /> Use of Calipers <br /> o Calipers are considered reusable instruments that come into contact with non- <br /> intact skin or mucous membranes during measurements. <br /> o Single-use disposable calipers may be used if available; otherwise, reusable <br /> calipers must be cleaned and sterilized. <br /> Cleaning <br /> o Immediately after use, remove any visible debris by rinsing the calipers under <br /> running water. <br /> o Use a soft brush and enzymatic detergent or cleaning solution to thoroughly clean <br /> all surfaces and joints. <br /> o Ultrasonic cleaning is recommended if equipment is available. <br /> Inspection <br /> o Inspect calipers for damage, rust, or wear before. <br /> o Remove from service if defective. <br /> Glove Use <br /> o Wear disposable gloves when handling used or sterilized calipers. <br /> 3. Other Instruments—Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization Protocol <br /> All other reusable instruments used during body art procedures (e.g., forceps, tweezers, scissors, <br /> clamps)that come into contact with non-intact skin, mucous membranes, or potentially <br /> infectious materials must be thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized after each use to <br /> prevent infection transmission. <br /> Use of Instruments <br /> o Instruments classified as reusable must be cleaned and sterilized before each <br /> client use. <br /> o Single-use disposable instruments should be used whenever possible to minimize <br /> contamination risks. <br /> 10 <br />
