o Immediately after use, carefully remove the needle from the machine using proper <br /> technique (avoiding recapping). <br /> o Dispose of used needles and needle bars in an approved sharps container <br /> located within arm's reach of the workstation. <br /> o Never recap, bend, or break needles before disposal. <br /> 4. Needle Bar Components <br /> o If the needle bar is reusable (some designs allow this), clean and sterilize <br /> according to manufacturer instructions. <br /> o If disposable, discard immediately after use. <br /> 5. Glove Use and Hand Hygiene <br /> o Always wear disposable gloves when handling needles and needle bars. <br /> o Perform hand hygiene before donning and after removing gloves. <br /> 6. Documentation <br /> o Keep records of needle use and disposal as part of facility infection control <br /> documentation. <br /> 3. Razors <br /> 1. Use of Razors <br /> o Use single-use, disposable razors whenever possible. <br /> o Reusable razors are discouraged but if used, must be cleaned and sterilized after <br /> each client. <br /> 2. Handling During Procedure <br /> o Wear disposable gloves when handling razors to prevent contamination. <br /> o Avoid touching razor blades directly. <br /> 3. Cleaning and Sterilization (for reusable razors only) <br /> o Disassemble razor components if possible. <br /> o Rinse immediately after use to remove debris. <br /> o Clean thoroughly with enzymatic detergent and use an ultrasonic cleaner if <br /> available, <br /> o Package in sterilization pouches and sterilize using a steam autoclave according to <br /> manufacturer instructions. <br /> o Inspect for damage before reuse. <br /> 4. Disposal <br /> o Dispose of single-use disposable razors immediately after use in an approved <br /> sharps or biohazard container. <br /> o Do not reuse or attempt to sterilize disposable razors. <br /> 5. Glove Use and Hand Hygiene <br /> o Wear gloves when handling razors and during cleaning/sterilization procedures. <br /> o Perform hand hygiene before donning and after removing gloves. <br /> 6. Other sharps or single use marking pens used on open skin <br /> 7. Sharps (Other than Needles and Razors) <br /> a.
