An exclusion zone will be <br /> established approximately 10 feet around active work areas. No unauthorized person shall be <br /> allowed within this exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> TPH-g up to 5,000 mg/kg <br /> Benzene up to 17,000 ug/I <br /> Toluene up to 42,000 ug/I <br /> Ethylbenzene up to 6,000 ug/l <br /> Xylenes up to 32,000 ug/I <br /> 1,2-DCA up to 250 ug/I <br /> TAME up to 80 ug/I <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> 1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild <br /> eye, nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous <br /> system. Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, <br /> drowsiness, dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTEX <br /> etc.) are known or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards noise heavy equipment (i.e., back <br /> hoe) vibration hazards traffic hazards, etc. <br /> Advancer(GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
