Blood Borne Pathogens ( BBP) : Awareness <br /> If you encounter a spill of blood or bodily fluid, here are some key points to keep in mind: <br /> Report any serious injuries or blood spills to your Supervisor immediately. <br /> All human blood and certain human body fluids must be treated as if known to be infectious. <br /> Stay in one area if you are bleeding to avoid spreading potentially infectious material. <br /> Only trained and authorized individuals are allowed to perform cleaning of BBP affected areas. <br /> If you have not been trained, DO NOT attempt to clean up the contaminated area. Awareness <br /> training does not qualify an individual as authorized. <br /> Advanced Special Training is provided to the following departments: <br /> Sanitation <br /> Housekeeping <br /> First-aid Response Team <br /> All sharps' needles must be disposed off properly inside the sharp's containers located inside the <br /> restrooms. Sharps disposal containers are designed to help limit the potential exposure of BBP. <br /> • puncture-proof <br /> leak-proof <br /> • tight fitting lid <br /> • clearly labeled <br />
