F
INTRODUCTION
report presents the findings of the Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading Studies completed for the
ect referenced on the Title Page. These studies were required by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department(EHD) and were completed to examine the underlying soil
characteristics and determine the suitability of an Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) to
serve a proposed Restroom building at the Chinese Cemetery Site. This report complies with San
Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-604.010 (d).
Mr. Zack Wong, PE, President of Wong Engineers, Inc. is the project Civil Engineer and has
provided the preliminary information for these Studies, including the proposed facility Site Plan
layout in Appendix A. The OWTS design parameters for the project that are included in this
report are based upon the facility Site Plan.
Within the text of this Report, Bolded Section (§) numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph(s) that correspond with the EHD Requirements Checklist. Section
Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for the Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are sections applicable for the
Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of text may also apply to other
sections of the Checklists, but may not be necessarily referenced.
From the soil testing procedures, the soil texture analyses have found the indigenous soils under
the proposed effluent disposal area to be a sandy loam soil, with the shallow percolation test
extremely rapid, and the deeper percolation test result to be more plausible.
II. SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY FINDINGS
A. SUBJECT PROPERTY AND SURROUNDING STUDY AREA INFORMATION
NLS§ 1.0, SSS§ 1.0. The subject property is located on the south side of Mathews Road,
directly south of the San Joaquin County Hospital. The SJC Community Development
Department (CDD)Administrative/Conditional Use Permit Document is found in Appendix B
and illustrates the proposed Project Description.
Domestic water is currently supplied a private onsite well. It will be a number of years before
municipal water and wastewater services become available to this area of French Camp.
Land use to the north, south, east and west are commercial, agricultural production land and sparse
rural residential properties.
SSS§ 3.0. Permit applications on Grovetree Lane exclusively (one-half mile radius study area)
from the property were reviewed for repairs/replacements/additions to existing OWTSs. Two
Permit applications were found in the EHD files. These permits are found in Appendix G and
were for the addition of an additional septic tank and the replacement of a redwood lid.
Page 4-
Chesney Engineering, Inc.
