Geosyntec'% <br /> consultants <br /> 5.2 Task Descriptions <br /> Task 1: Hand Auger/Soil Sampling <br /> To determine if soil in the area was impacted by the released fluid,the soil in the area <br /> will be field screened with a photoionization detector(PID) for volatile organic <br /> compounds (VOCs). Up to 6 soil samples within the observed wet area and 10 soil <br /> samples outside the wet area will be collected for laboratory analysis. If, based on the <br /> analytical results,the soil is determined to be impacted by the fluid release event, then <br /> targeted excavation will be conducted to remove the impacted soil. The targeted <br /> excavation will be guided by field observations including visual, olfactory, and PID <br /> scanning of the soil. <br /> Task 2: Soil Excavation <br /> Excavation activities, if needed,will include excavation, confirmation sampling, and <br /> disposal of excavated soil. Affected soil will be removed using standard construction <br /> equipment such as a backhoe or excavator and loaded into trucks for disposal. The <br /> exact depth and horizontal extent of the excavations will be guided based upon field <br /> observations, including PID readings of total VOC concentrations, visual evidence of <br /> staining, and olfactory indicators of gross contamination. Confirmation soil sampling <br /> will be conducted at the end of excavation to confirm that the affected soil has been <br /> removed. Confirmation samples will be collected from the sidewalls and bottom of the <br /> excavation. <br /> Mask 3: Direct Push Soil Borings and SVE Well Installation <br /> Up to 5 borings will be advanced to 40 feet below ground surface to investigate <br /> potential preferential pathways of landfill gas near probe GP-10. An additional soil <br /> vapor extraction well will be installed to total depth of 37 feet below ground surface <br /> using a 12" diameter hollow stem auger. <br /> SAC373 HASP 8 04/2/2026 <br />
