Work Plan — Well Construction
Well Construction
A 6"borehole will be dug using a 6"hand auger to a depth of 6ft below the ground surface. The well
casing will consist of 1.5" Sch. 40 PVC that will extend from the bottom of the borehole to 2ft above
ground surface. The casing will be screen with 0.020 slot size from depths 3-5ft. The casing will be fitted
with an endcap at the bottom of the borehole.
The filter pack will consist of#3 Sand placed via tremie pipe. The filter pack will fill depths 2-6ft. A
bentonite grout using medium bentonite ships will be used as the transitional seal filling the annual space
from depths 1-2ft. Neat cement, mixed according to CA Well Standards Bulletin 74-90, will fill the
remaining annual seal to the ground surface, depths 0-1 ft.
A capped 4"PVC cover will be fitted over the exposed well casing and into the neat cement seal to
protect the exposed well casing. The top of the well casing will be fitted with a locking cap.
Excavated material and other waste generated from the well construction will be collected by field
personnel for proper disposal off-site.
Measurements and Samples
No groundwater samples are planned to be taken from the wells.
Groundwater levels will be recorded periodically with an electric sounding instrument. In-Situ TROLL
transducers will be deployed in each well for continuous water level monitoring for the duration of the
project.
