(CPS) facility located at 35100 South Highway 33 in <br /> Vernalis, California (the Site; Figure 1). The work described in this report was performed in <br /> compliance with the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region <br /> (RWQCB) Monitoring and Reporting Program No. R5-2007-0825 (MRP No. R5-2007-0825), dated <br /> November 15, 2007. Groundwater monitoring and sampling activities are performed semi-annually <br /> during the first and third quarters. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The six-acre site is situated in an area of San Joaquin Valley that is used primarily for agriculture. <br /> The site has been occupied by a agricultural chemical retail facility since 1969 and prior to 1969 was <br /> used as farmland (Geosyntec, 1998). Current operations at the facility include storing, blending and <br /> distributing bulk liquid and dry fertilizers (Geosyntec, 2008). The majority of the site is paved with <br /> an office and warehouse located along the western border and a tank farm with above ground storage <br /> tanks (ASTs) near the center of the site. <br /> Property to the north of the site is occupied by a residence. The West Stanislaus Irrigation District <br /> Canal is located along the eastern border of the site followed by agricultural land and Welty Road, <br /> which intersects with South Highway 33 at the southern end of the Site. A gasoline station was <br /> formerly located at the southeastern corner of the intersection (SAIC, 2009). Property south of the <br /> road is occupied by residences followed by the irrigation canal and agricultural land that also extends <br />
