I
Each boring will be advanced to approximately ten feet below the water table
or into N clay or other material below the water table, suspected to be of
lowere pl-rmability; whichever is less deep. Undisturbed soil samples will
be obtained using the Dames & Moore Type-U sampler driven by a 140 pound
i
khammer fl'lling 30 inches. Samples will be collected from the borings at
minimum intervals of five feet. The clean sampler will be driven into the
soil beneath the open borehole. The soil samples retained in the 3-inch
stainless steel tubes will be removed from the sampler and their ends sealed
with teflon membranes and plastic end caps. Each sample selected for
chemical analysis will be securely sealed, labeled and stored in ice cooled
containers and delivered to Bio National Corporation under proper chain-of-
custody.: All samples will be logged according to the Unified Soil
Classification system.
To prohibit cross-contamination of successive samples, the sampling
i
equipment will be disassembled between sampling attempts and washed with a
f tri-sodili phosphate (TSP) soap solution. The samplers will then be
i
reassembled with clean 3-inch stainless steel tubes and then used for
subsequent sampling. All augers and sampling equipment will be thoroughly
I steam-cleIaned between borings to prevent cross-contamination.
k
i
3.2 Ground _Water Investization
The purpose of this investigation is to:
o Evaluate the depth of ground water;
o Evaluate the ground water gradient; and
o Evaluate the hydrocarbons in the ground water.
} 3.2.1 Observation Well Installation
ti
XV%A ground water wells will be installed at the facility.
