Task E02—One 84nch Well Abandonment
It is anticipated that the PVC casing will need to be drilled out and grouted to the surface. For
estimating purposes we estimate the casing will be drilled out to a total depth of 25 feet below
the ground surface. The drilling out of the casing will allow the removal of the casing .from the
borehole. After the casing is removed the well will be tremmie grouted to ensure complete
filling. Following tremmie grouting, the well casing will be excavated to at least five feet below
the ground surface and cut off. The former agricultural well head and associated casing removed
will be left on site and will remain the responsibility of the client for disposal.
Task E03 - Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities a report for the abandonment of the agricultural well will
be prepared for client and agency review. The report will include:
• A description of the field activities and observations
• A California Department of Water Resources abandonment log, (if applicable).
All information gathered during the operation by Kleinfelder is considered confidential and will
be released only upon written authorization from the client or as required by law. California law
requires a person to inform the state if a situation is encountered that can be considered an
immediate endangerment to the public's health or welfare and/or to the environment. Therefore,
the client will be contractually bound to make any said disclosures in lieu of Kleinfelder, its
owners,principals, employees or subcontractors.
CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSUMPTIONS
• Adequate workspace and access will be provided. If the drilling equipment cannot be
positioned other arrangements for the proper destruction of the well should be
investigated.
• The cost outlined in this proposal is based on the available well construction data or
estimated in well log absence. Different well construction may require changes in scope or
methodology which may result in higher fees.
• The well to be abandoned is to be tremmie grouted and removed with a truck mounted
drill rig equipped with the appropriate equipment and pumps. If difficult abandonment
conditions are encountered, alternative destruction methods may be necessary.
• The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky. It is
impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all structures (such as septic
system tanks or leach fields) which may be buried in the ground. Kleinfelder s fee is not
adequate to compensate for both the performance of the services and the assumption of
risk of damage to such structures.
02001PROP.ENV/ST03PI02 C7 Q 3 --7 ) Page A-2
Copyright 2003, Kleinfelder,Inc.
