r-
LEVI N E•FRICKE
r
January 10, 1989 LF 1439
WORK ORDER No.l
- INTRODUCTION
Levine•Fricke has been requested to prepare a proposal and work
order for conducting an Environmental Site Assessment of an
approximately 300-acre property (assessors parcel number
r- 114-020-02) ("the Site") in San Joaquin County, California (Fig-
ures 1 and 2) . Bordering the Site is 14 Mile Slough to the
~~ north, 10 Mile Slough to the east, Feather River Drive to the
west and a power transmission corridor to the south. Land use at
the Site has been predominantly agricultural, with row crops cov-
ering the majority of the Site acreage. A quonset hut. and sto-
rage area containing two above-ground diesel tanks are located in
the northeast corner of the Site. An underground gasoline tank
has reportedly been removed from the northeast corner area of the
Site. A Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) transformer substation
is located adjacent to the Site and to the east. The Site is
planned for combined residential and commercial development.
Background
In October through December 1988, Levine-Fricke completed an
Environmental Site Assessment and follow-up field investigations
of the 880-acre parcel immediately adjacent and to the south of
the Site (the Brookside Ranch) . This environmental assessment
included a background review of the site history and potential
contamination sources (including a review of pertinent regulatory
records and interviews with regulatory agency officials) , a field
reconnaissance inspection, and sampling and analysis of soil and
ground water for suspected chemicals. Results of these investi-
gations were presented in two reports to the Grupe Development
Company entitled: "Environmental Site Assessment Report, Brook-
side Development Site, San Joaquin County, California, " December
A 8, 1988 ; and "Report of Supplemental Field Investigations, Grupe
f Brookside Development Site, San Joaquin County, California, "
December 8, 1988 .
1 On December 29, 1988, Mr. Scott Seyfried, a Levine-Fricke Geolo-
gist, conducted a walk-through inspection of the Site (adjacent
and to the north of the Brookside Ranch) and conducted an inter-
view with the current owner of the Site property, Mr. Bob Ripkin.
The purpose of the inspection and interview was to observe gen-
eral site conditions, to inquire about use, storage, handling and
r- disposal of potential hazardous chemicals, and to look for indi-
cations of possible release(s) of chemicals to the environment.
I ..
w
1
"" -1-
