ATTACH M ENT A
Materials Company
WEST REGION
Valley Rock Asphalt Plant
Temporary Corporation Yard
Improvement Plan
Project Description
Vulcan maintains that we are allowed to install an asphalt plant under our current permits, however we
understand that engaging in this process to approve a "temporary corporation yard" at the site could
lead to a prompt compromise on the issue.
This improvement plan is to allow a temporary corporation yard for an Interstate 5 resurfacing project
(Attachment B). A portable asphalt plant will be erected within the corporation yard where asphalt will
be produced and trucks will enter the yard to accept loads.Approximately 340,000 tons of materials will
be provided for the resurfacing project. Production of asphalt will last approximately 180 days (or until
the job is complete) based on the proposed Caltrans schedule for the project (April 1st to November
1st), however the schedule may be adjusted based on CalTrans requirements. The majority of trucking
and production of asphalt will occur predominately at night based on CalTrans lane closure schedule,
however daytime operations are also necessary to prepare and maintain equipment and import
necessary materials that are required to meet job specifications.
