";JLoss Control <br />Safety Procedures in Event of Release <br />Responsibilities Administration: <br />•Assess the situation <br />•If positive identification of the material cannot be made, assume the material to be <br />dangerous. <br />Evacuate the contaminated area and seal it off. The site of a hazardous materials <br />incident is to be isolated to the extent necessary as soon and safely as possible. <br />•Attempt to identify the chemical. <br />*Determine the hazard level presented as reflected in the school Safety Data Sheet <br />(SDSs). <br />•If decontamination can be safely conducted with school assets, do so. <br />•If not, Call 911. Make sure the 911 operator understands that there is a hazardous <br />materials emergency. Provide as much of the following information to the operator as <br />possible location of release or spill, class of hazardous material, (if known), size of <br />spill, description of any personal injury, control measures already taken, your name and <br />telephone number, how you can be identified and your location when emergency <br />responders arrive and stay on the telephone until you are instructed to disconnect by <br />.1 !\4 .1 <br />
